Origin and meaning of Vietnamese Women’s Day
Currently, in Vietnam, women make up 51% of the workforce and play a major role in housework and child-rearing. To honor the women, half of the world, people often hold a very solemn ceremony, filled with flowers and good wishes. March 8 is also the day men show loving care for the women they love. Every year on March 8 is “International Women’s Day,” which commemorates the anniversary of the fight for women’s and children’s rights all around the world. It is also a time to celebrate, love, and respect women. In Vietnam, March 8 is also the anniversary of the revolt of Hai Ba Trung, two national heroes who gave the country pride when they for the first-time reclaimed sovereignty by fending off foreign invaders in the North, a country’s rights.
